A Simple Proof That Men Should Be the Providers

Natural Motivation, Natural Expectation

When a Man has a child, his desire to provide for his family - his wife and his child - generally increases. It certainly does not decrease. Man has a natural motivation to provide for his wife and kids.

When a Woman has a child, her desire to provide for her family - her husband and her child - generally decreases. It certainly does not increase. Woman has a natural expectation for her and her child to be provided for by her husband .

The appearance of this motivation and expectation occurs whether the mother and father want it to or not, and certainly not because some ideological trad (me) on the internet is arguing that it should be there. This is because this motivation and the corresponding expectation are both biologically natural to humans.

Natural Resentment, Natural Demoralization

If the above is true, then we should expect see a natural resentment from a woman if a man does not step up and provide for her or she has to. And indeed we do see this.

Likewise, we should also expect to see a natural demoralization from a man who cannot provide for his wife and kids, or whose wife has to provide. And indeed we do see this.

He will feel useless, and she will feel him useless on a biological level. After all, on a biological level she has already contributed the far greater part by sacrificing her body for 9 months, and then continuing to sacrifice bodily for her baby, through nourishment and care.

So where does his value come from? It must come from his role. Being a Provider, therefore, is not merely a social role but a biological one.

Societal Implications - Nature’s Revenge

We as a society have arrogantly assumed that we can discard gender roles because we tell ourselves they’re just socially constructed. But our roles are built into our biology. Therefore, we cannot escape them anymore than a 2002 Toyota Camry can escape needing gasoline to run.

Therefore, men should be the providers.

And not only that, but we should structure our society around enabling a man to provide and a woman to not have to provide so she can nurture. Indeed, it would seem to be very very foolish to structure society around the opposite - enabling a woman to provide, potentially equal to or better than a man.

Rebel against nature, and nature will have her revenge. We should not be surprised at the superabundance of resentful women and demoralized men in our day; we are simply reaping the consequences of our feminist commitments.

Inspirational Credit to and her post The forecast for female-breadwinner households is bleak. Specifically the passage:

“When a child arrives, a husband’s desire to provide ramps up, whereas a wife’s typically ramps down. Because of this, it is practically inevitable that when a primary-breadwinning wife has a child, she’ll become resentful if she feels she must take on both of these tasks—mother and provider—simultaneously.”
