The Christendom Coalition is, fundamentally and unequivocally, dedicated to the absolute and total destruction of “Conservatism.” Currently the average right-wing American calls himself a conservative. This is unfortunate, because the right-wing will never and can never succeed in its political aims until it redefines itself and rejects the label of “Conservative.”
Why? Because “Conservatives” are losers. Inherently. Don’t believe me, believe them:
“Conservatism never is more admirable than when it accepts changes that it disapproves, with good grace, for the sake of a general conciliation.” – Russell Kirk in The Conservative Mind
In other words, the height of Conservatism is when it loses and accepts defeat, for the sake of peace, as if the stakes were just a gentlemen’s game of chess. Conservatism par excellence is about disposition, rather than principles, for Conservatives have no historical principles.
Disagree? Point to me when and where they can be found. Conservatism’s own brightest lights acknowledge that the philosophy has no sure foundation: “A conservative is someone who stands athwart history, yelling Stop.” – William F. Buckley
Except history moves inexorably forward. This classic loser mentality of Buckley and Kirk is nothing but shameless advocacy for a retreating action against the inexorable march of the left. And as anyone who plays sports can tell you, if you play to not lose, you most assuredly will. Leftists play to win, because they are winners, whereas Conservatives play not to lose… because they are losers.
What are we even supposed to be conserving anymore? Does anyone really believe we in these United States still live in the land of the free and the home of the brave? That we simply need to wake up, and it will be morning in America again? No, the sun is setting. And not just on America, but on Western Civilization as a whole. And we may have a long night ahead.
What we need is not Conservatism, but a Restoration. The West has basically fallen. Edmund Burke can’t save us. Our heroes are dead, our enemies in power. Now is not the time to play defense - what is there left to defend? We've already lost, thanks to supposed Conservatives. It’s time to counter-attack.
The problem though is this: The Right currently has no positive vision of its own to unify around, composed as it is of a variety of competing, incoherent, and contradictory worldviews. To be fair to Conservatives, the Left is led by an exceedingly clever General (Satan), who demands absolute conformity and obedience from his slaves, whereas the Right is simply composed of all those who have dissented at various points in history from the General’s marching orders.
So what is Western Civilization based on? What must this positive vision be? Upon what pillars was the greatest civilization the world has ever seen, our inheritance, built?
Liberty. Patriarchy. And the Catholic Church. These are the pillars upon which a Restoration of the West must be built, and without which, the West will fall. And there can be no compromise, no cowardice, and no conservatism when it comes to our inheritance.
