He who hears you hears me

"He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” - Luke 10:16

In this Scripture verse is a proof of Catholicism to the Bible-believer

All Scripture is God breathed and is his spoken word to us. God is speaking, directly to us, in Scripture, we just have to be able to listen and discern what He is saying.

If that is true, then when Christ says "He who hears you hears me," he is not just talking to His Apostles, but to us. God the Father knew those exact words would be put in Scripture before the foundation of the Universe. And He specifically made sure they would be there, because He's speaking to us and wanted us to know how to find Him, and how to hear His voice.

So what does He say? Those who hear the words of the Apostles (the sent ones, sent from Jesus Christ) hear the words of Christ.

So can we hear those words today? Of course - remember the words of the Roman - "For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it."

The Apostles are under Christ, just as the soldiers were under the centurion. When Christ sent them out, He sent them out with His authority. And they, as in the army, can pass the commands of their leader, Jesus Christ the King of the Universe, on. That's what we see in Acts with the appointment of Matthias, and in Paul's letters when he instructs Timothy to follow after him, and warns the Churches not to listen to those without authority, namely the Circumcission party.

This authority has been passed down, even to today "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

If your Church didn't receive this authority, it doesn't have it. If you want to hear Christ, and follow his teaching which he sent the Apostles out to instruct the whole world on, you need to find where you can listen to Christ's authority passed on

That only is only found fully in the Catholic Church
