Some people look at the vastness of the universe and think that, because it's so vast, that's an argment against God's existence, because why would the universe be so vast and empty simply to have us in it? Why would we think we are the crown of creation, or special in anyway given the vastness of the universe?
And yet, there is also another interpretation. Should not the vastness of the universe inspire within us numinous awe? Does not the vastness of the universe make our existence even more special, and should it not give us ever more reverence for God that he made is all just for us? Perhaps even all of it was necessary to make us, or necessary for God's ultimate plan for us in ways that we can't even imagine - whether that's simply the impact of us seeing the night sky and the stars, or future interstellar travel in God's grand cosmic play
In the same way as you can have different interpretations of the same facts with regards to the universe and God's existence, you can also have different interpretations of your relationship with God when it comes to sin and human abilities. If you sin, you can be tempted with despair, viewing yourself as worthless and unworthy of God's love. You can think it impossible to overcome sin and your own concupiscnece and your habits and vices. You can give up, and give in.
But you can also be overcome with humility, and a realization of your reliance on God. Without Him, we can do nothing. But through Him, all things are possible if we have Christ working within us. We simply must continue to ask for His grace, turning our despair into hope through humility, with the very same facts, simply a different interpretation
